FITNESS CENTER POLICIES

You may use the Fitness Center during the hours that your building identification badge grants you access to the building.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the location of the nearest first aid kit, AEDs, the building’s occupant emergency plan, and the telephone for emergency calls in case of emergency.

Only registered members of the Fitness Center may use lockers, showers, and equipment and participate in the sponsored classes.

  • Because the Fitness Center is in an area which will soon be accessible to the general public, doors to the space should be closed and locked at all times.
  • The door access code should not be shared.

If you have any questions about beginning a fitness program, please consult your medical provider before taking classes or using fitness equipment.

  • Attend classes suited to your fitness level. You may sit in on any classes to preview them, and ask instructors questions before or after classes.
  • Be sure to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, and, to avoid injuries, always warm-up, stretch, and cool down.

Use equipment safely.

  • Plan to attend instruction seminars which the Committee will periodically offer.
  • Read charts on the walls, review equipment manuals or videos, or ask other members or Committee members for instructions.
  • Place weights gently on the fitness room floor. This is for your protection and minimizes disturbances for those working in nearby rooms or floors.
  • Don’t try to repair equipment yourself as there is a contractor who does that. Report any problems with equipment by making an entry on the equipment log sheet posted on the bulletin board in the Fitness Center.

Keep the locker rooms clean and remove all belongings when you leave.

  • Abandoned items items will be discarded.
  • Lockers are to be emptied and locks removed after each use.
  • Locks left on lockers overnight or when the member is not using the Center will be removed.

Please be courteous to other members.

  • When using equipment, wipe off your perspiration, and please maintain good hygiene.
  • Keep the stereo sound level at a reasonable level between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to avoid disturbing people working in nearby workspaces. Please comply if group exercise instructors ask for stereo/TV sound level to be muted during classes.
  • Treadmills and “elliptical trainer” have 30 minute time limits when people are waiting.
  • Return all equipment to its appropriate storage location after use.
  • No equipment may be removed from the Fitness Center unless it is being used for a sponsored class in an adjacent space.

Only materials authorized by the Fitness Committee may be posted in the Fitness Center.

Please communicate your concerns to the Fitness Committee by sending an e-mail to newfedgym@gmail.com or by contacting a member of the committee.

Thank you. The Fitness Committee 6/07
